  1. In this book, Slaughter in the Hall, I think that the parent-child relationship of Odysseus and Telemachus plays a huge role. The two father-son characters are just getting to know each other with the opportunity to kill over one hundred suitors, side-by-side. This scene makes the two work as a team and learn more about each other. The suitors have influenced their palace and are something that has gotten in the way of their relationship. If Odysseus had never left for Troy the suitors wouldn't be invading his palace, and Telemachus would have never had to deal with them. I think that overall this scene brings the two together (which they never have been) and get to know each other.

  2. I agree with mackenzie, the relationship between Odysseus and Telemachus is very important in this chapter. Finally, after Odysseus being away for so long, Telemachus gets to fight with his father and bond with him. He also gets to prove himself and show his father and the suitors how great and mature he is. They both take down the suitors that have plagued their house for 20 years and take back what is rightfully theirs. I think that this chapter is when they really both get to know each other for the first time and actually develop a father- son relationship.

  3. In this book the relationship between Odysseus and Telemachus is very significant. They are just getting to know each other and now they have to go into battle. They have to trust each other with their lives because it is them vs. all the suitors and if they don't work together they know they can't defeat them. They bond a lot throughout the battle. Odysseus learns a lot about Telemachus and Telemachus learns a lot about Odysseus. Telemachus looks up to his father and he wants to prove to Odysseus that he is brave and mature.

  4. In this book, Odysseus's and Telemachus's relationship reaches a new level. The father-son relationship is an important part of the book. Although it is not a very normal thing to kill people together, it is something that they had to do and did together valiantly. They had to rely on each other in order to make sure that they were at no times leaving the other one vulnerable for attack. This is also an example of a bonding session for Odysseus and Telemachus. Odysseus has been away for so long and this is an event that lets them become closer with each other.

  5. Odysseus and Telemachus are more similar that the reader was previously led to believe. Telemachus used to come off as a weak, helpless boy. In book 22, he proves this wrong, and shows that he is indeed like his father. He does not shy away from battle, and stays with his father the entire time in order to defeat the suitors. He fights with the same intensity as his father. Telemachus, although young, resembles his father more than one might think.

  6. Telemachus and Odysseus have bonded through this battle- one of the things that they have in common is their hatred for the suitors. Both of them had shared the pain over the twenty years Odysseus had been gone- Telemachus saw the suitors take over Ithaca and plague Penelope's life, while Odysseus didn't see it, in his head he knew that was taking place (and things that people imagine can be much more upsetting than the things people see). With both of them together in Ithaca, and having only one chance to just eliminate the suitors, they had to change- Telemachus had to become stronger and braver, and Odysseus had to lose his arrogance. During this battle, the flaws they initially had disappeared and they became much more similar.

  7. In this book about the slaughter in the hall, I was able to really see the relationship of Odysseus and Telemchus very well. You could see that they had a good relationship because they were both battling the suitors to achieve the same goal. Along with having their relationship closer we were able to tell that they are very similiar. They are similiar because they are both very noble and good fighters now. The relationship and similarities between odysseus and telemachus have really become stronger through out the most recent books and especially this book.
